In North America, Belgian waffles are a variety of waffle with a lighter batter, larger squares, and deeper pockets than ordinary American waffles. Belgian waffles were originally leavened with yeast, but baking powder is now often used. If you ask a rendom question to a person on a street where Belgium is, and chances are they cannot tell you that it is a country in Europe nestled between France, Germany and The Netherlands. However, many people will know little of this small country’s culinary gift to the world — crisp fries, fine chocolates, to name just a few. The one thing most do know is that Belgium makes waffles.
These belgian Waffles is the delightful, rich and yummy recipe to start your day. In these waffles I used bakind Powder although you can use yeast. Instead of using water you can easily replace it with milk.
Ingredients:
Plain Flour 1 cup Sugar 4 tbsp salt 1 tsp Baking Powder 2 tsp Baking soda 1/8 tsp Egg 1 Cooking oil 2 tbsp Butter 1 tbsp Water/Milk 1 cup
Directions:
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder. In another bowl, lightly beat egg yolk. Add egg yolk milk/water, butter and cooking; mix well. ...
Add egg white and mix well.
Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown. Serve with icecream or strawberries or syrup.
